Make way for Student Spring 2022!
The most anticipated event of the spring kicked off on April 4. The Festival of Creativity was opened by the Faculty of Economics with a programme called "Through the Cherry Tree Branches".
Before being transported to the land of the rising sun, the audience saw an improvised stand-up show and enjoyed singing along with musical instruments. A rousing dance preceded the confernce. Rector of Mari State University Mikhail Shvetsov made a traditional welcoming speech. His words were supported by Stanislav Igoshin, Deputy Minister of Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Mari El. Tatyana Sarycheva, Director of the Institute of Digital Technology, made a speech of wishes to the students:
In the story, MarSU students arrive in Japan as exchange students. Their visit to the Land of the Rising Sun falls on the magical time of sakura blossoms. During a tour of the country, the guys discover the old enmity between the old city, which honours traditions, and the new one, steeped in greed and lies. This leads to fatal consequences: the split of Japan. Then demons begin to come to the city and kidnap the locals every night. The students decide to reconcile the warring parties, but it is not easy. The evil spirits stop taking people as one of the students, the simple-hearted Valera, sacrifices his life to save Japan. The play closes with the words of an elder, who speaks of sacrifice, compassion and mutual support: "The important thing is to remember three words: kindness, respect and friendship".
Dancing, shadow theatre, clowning, word of mouth - Japanese melodies were the keynote of the performance. The musical part of the programme deserved special attention, as it was able to strike a key into the heart of the audience from the very first minutes of the performance. A rousing and heartfelt performance of songs in Russian and English was met with thunderous applause. The audience enjoyed playing their instruments throughout the performance: drums, synthesizer and electric guitars.
The art design plunged the audience into the atmosphere of Asian culture. The performance was adorned with elaborately drawn Japanese characters and delicate pink sakura blossoms. A ritual dance accompanied the fashion show. Costume designers from the Economics Department worked hard to create images of creepy demons. The models' entry was accompanied by a melody with a Japanese motif in a modern arrangement.
Last year, students of economy department won the Grand Prix. We wish them to reach further creative heights!
