Medical students are taught in close collaboration with leading hospitals of the Mari El Republic. Lectures and seminars are held by candidates and doctors of sciences from all over Russia and abroad. Qualified practicing doctors share their experience with medical students of the Institute.

There is a Center for Accreditation and Simulation at the Medical Institute. The center is equipped with multifunctional simulators, the students learn how to make injections, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and master their skills of objective examination of the patient. Not only students but also clinicians can practice at the center.

The Faculty structure includes the Department of Anatomy, Topographic Anatomy and Operative Surgery, Department of Fundamental Medicine, Department of Therapy, Department of Surgical Diseases, Department of Internal Medicine, Department of Radiodiagnosis, Oncology, Department of Physiology and Pathology; Laboratories of Normal and Pathological Physiology, Experimental Surgery; Anatomical museum.
