University
The campus of Mari State University consists of 7 university buildings and 8 dormitories (student hostels). All the buildings and dormitories are situated in the city center. It takes max. 10-15 minutes on foot to get from one of the university buildings to the dormitories.
For international students and staff MarSU arranges housing at the dormitory. Students are accommodated in double/triple rooms equipped with beds, chairs, lamps, bookshelves. There is a shared kitchen, toilet, shower-room on the floor. The kitchens are equipped with comfortable cooking facilities. Paid laundry is available in almost every dormitory.
International staff members are located in single/double rooms.
Every university building has a dining room or buffet, where students and staff can have a dinner. There are cooking facilities in every dormitory.
The university has a big library. The collection of the library of Mari State University comprises more than 1,1 million books and it is continuously expanding. There are 7 reading rooms with more than 529 seats. The electronic catalog of the library contains more than 200 thousand units and 17 databases.
For sports activities there are 6 gyms, an aerobics room, two sports fields, a gym and a ski base. The university has various sports sections, as football, volleyball, badminton, shooting and other sports. Students have discounts in the city swimming pools and gyms.
On December 13, 2021, for the first time, an intra-university student Olympiad in general hygiene and human ecology was held for foreign students (in English).
