Scientists from Maris State University and the Ufa Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences have developed a promising anti-cancer compound

Scientists from Mari State University, working with colleagues from the Ufa Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences as part of the Priority 2030 program, have developed a new compound that could serve as the basis for the creation of innovative anticancer drugs.

«The research results showed that the new substance effectively inhibits the growth of various malignant cells, including liver cancer, lung adenocarcinoma, colorectal cancer, and leukemia. Moreover, activity is evident even at low concentrations, making the compound particularly promising for drug development. An additional advantage is its ease of synthesis: scientists can produce the required amount of the substance for preclinical and clinical trials.»

For Mari State University, such research is part of its strategic goal of developing scientific schools and creating innovative solutions in biomedicine. Furthermore, the study reflects the priority areas of Russian scientific development, aimed at improving the quality of life and ensuring the country's technological sovereignty. The development of new antitumor compounds meets the objectives of national healthcare and scientific projects and lays the foundation for future domestically developed medicines.
