A Mari State University student will represent the republic in the Miss Finno-Ugria Student Beauty Contest

This year the Miss Finno-Ugria Student Pageant will take place in Khanty-Mansiysk on December 20-22. The program is quite extensive and includes not only contestants from different universities, but also some extra events: press-conference "Centuries-old traditions - creative horizons", excursion around the museum, master-class "Travel-journalism: new realities and possibilities", international project seminar "Finno-Ugric vector to creative economy. TRAVEL - Journalism" and many others.

The Republic of Mari El and Mari State University will be represented by Anna Gurina, a student of the Institute of National Culture and Intercultural Communication. The girl went through the casting on the university level, which was held by the Center for Cultural and Creative Activities of Mari State University. The contestants presented creative numbers and told about themselves.

"Miss Student of Finno-Ugria" is a beauty pageant, but with a national component. The purpose of the contest is to maintain the culture and traditions of its people. National costume, behavior, language, cultural aspects - this is what plays a crucial role.

We asked Anna Gurina about the preparation for the contest:

«While everything is going on in a more or less calm pace, but now rehearsals have already started, we are starting to put a number for the contest, prepare photos and video materials. I will have a dance with the image of the Snow Maiden of Sernur. I'm used to the fast pace of preparation and I think it's necessary to treat the competition easier, besides I have experience of participation in similar events. But at the same time, I'm worried and preparing hard, because you should never underestimate your competitors.»

Anna believes that the way to victory is through hard preparation and a colorful, bright performance, but without fear and fear of losing, because it can worsen the mood.

Since the start of the competition, the students of Mari State University have represented the university and our region with dignity, regularly winning prizes. We believe that this year will be successful again for Mari Beauty!
