Students of Mari State University - participants of the forum "Science of the Future - Youth Science 2021

In Russia the year 2021 is declared the Year of science and technologies. In the current epidemiological situation the VI All-Russian Youth Scientific Forum "Science of the Future - Youth Science" was held on November 17-20, 2021 in a combined format at three universities: National Research Technological University "MISIS The event was held on November 17-20, 2021 in the combined format on the basis of three universities: National Research Technological University "MISIS" (Moscow), I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (Moscow) and the I.M. Kant Baltic Federal University (Moscow). I. Kant Baltic Federal University" (Kaliningrad).

The main venue for full-time participation was the National Research Technical University "MISIS", where the IV International Conference "Science of the Future" and the final of the All-Russian competition of research papers in 10 areas were held: "Agro-, bio- and food technologies", "Humanities", "Information technologies and mathematics", "Life sciences and medicine", "Earth sciences, ecology and environmental management", "New materials and construction methods", "Social sciences", "Transport systems, engineering and energy", "Physics and astronomy", "Chemistry and chemical technologies". More than 6000 applications from 20 Russian cities and countries have been submitted to the competition. The most active participants of the competition showed themselves in writing research papers in the social sciences, humanities, information technology and mathematics.

With competition of 100 people per place 321 finalists made it to the final, 60 participants became winners.

From Mari State University 50 applications were submitted to the R&D competition, but only 2 passed the competitive selection and made it to the final. At the final stage of the competition their posters and reports to the jury presented Bazhanov Andrey - a 1-year master student of 44.04.01 Pedagogical education (Education in the field of physical education, FPCS&T) and Ryabokonenko Irina - (a 2-year master student of 35.04.04 Agronomy, ATI). The guys adequately presented their research work in the sections. Bazhanov Andrey made a report on "Methods of development of coordination abilities of middle school children by means of modern swordsmanship" in the section "Life Sciences and Medicine. Irina Ryabokonenko with the report "Influence of growth stimulators on the yield and quality of potato tubers in the Republic of Mari El" took part in the section "Agro-, bio- and food technology", for which she was awarded a diploma for the best report.

Scientists from 16 countries of the world, representatives of 4 mathematical centers and 5 scientific centers of the world level gathered at the forum. More than 600 people attended the event in person and more than 150,000 people visited the forum events online. More than 400 reports were presented at the forum.

This year, forum participants met prominent scientists who have made major contributions to the development and popularization of science, including:

- Terry Callaghan (Distinguished Research Professor and Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Professor of Arctic Ecology at the University of Sheffield). As part of the plenary session on November 17, Professor Callaghan gave a lecture on "Climate Change in the Arctic and its Global Implications."

- John Hardy (an English geneticist and molecular biologist at the Rheta Lila Weston Institute for Neuroscience Research at the University of the West. Rhea Leela Weston at University College London, a specialist in neurological diseases). On November 18, John Hardy gave a lecture titled "Genomic Analysis of Neurodegenerative Disease.

- Nikolai Andreev (Russian mathematician, popularizer of mathematics). Nikolay Andreev gave a lecture on "Mathematical "components" of both the greatest achievements of civilization and the mathematical "stuffing" of usual, everyday things.

- Philip Spalart (American scientist, Ph.D., research associate at Boeing). On November 19, he gave a lecture titled "Turbulence: Its Mysteries and Its Prediction in the Past and Future."

- Martin Poliakoff (British chemical scientist, member (and vice president) of the Royal Society of London, professor of chemistry at the University of Nottingham). On November 19, the scientist gave a talk titled "Toward greener photochemistry."

- Lenora Grenoble (Professor, University of Chicago (USA), leading international expert on endangered languages). On November 20, Professor Grenoble gave a lecture on "Language Science: New Perspectives for the 21st Century".

- Ilya Usoskin (Professor, Senior Researcher at the Department of Earth Physics at St. Petersburg State University, Head of Cosmic Ray Monitoring Station at Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory). On November 20, he gave a lecture on "Extreme explosive processes in the Sun: forming a paradigm.

- Eugene Rozanov (Head of the Climate Research Group at the Physical and Meteorological Observatory and the World Radiation Center). On November 20, Professor Rozanov gave a lecture on "The Ozone Layer: Past and Future.

During the days of the Forum the doors of the best laboratories of NUST MISIS were opened for the participants; a tour of evening Moscow (Red Square, Christ the Savior Cathedral, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Vorobyovy Gory, Novy Arbat, Moscow City) was organized. The world-class scientific center "Supersonic" held an intellectual quest "On Takeoff: Conquer Your Altitude". The Days of Russian-German, Russian-French and Russian-Greek Science took a special place among the events.
