Mari State University students are among the best erudites of the Volga Federal District

The "Lech League" team included the students of IENIF (Victor Ovsyannikov, Alexey Koshkin, Alexander Mikhailov, Anastasia Gulyakova) and IPhF (Evgenia Isakova, Anna Taratkina). The second year in a row these six defend the honor of the Mari El Republic at the competition in Saransk. This time intellectual battles took place from March 24 to 26.

Competitions in "What? Where? When?" took place in two days. There were 14 teams from all of the Volga Federal District subjects. On each of the contest days erudite had to answer 40 questions, that is, all 80 tasks.

After the first 40 questions the team occupied the fourth place, 3 points behind the Perm region. The next day after the end of all 80 questions in the table two teams took the third place at once: the Republic of Mari El and the Perm region. This meant one thing - a "shootout" for the "bronze". To the first question both teams answered correctly, to the second no one gave a correct answer, but to the third question only Mari State University students could find an answer, which was supported by applause and other teams.

Thus, for the first time the republican team in "What? Where? When?" became the winner of "IQ PFD". On the same evening, March 26, they were awarded diplomas and medals at the official closing. On March 31 the players had a meeting with Mari State University Rector Mikhail Shvetsov, who congratulated them and noted the longstanding development of intellectual games in the university.
