Energy saving and smart technology laboratory opened at Mari State University
Modern living conditions and the introduction of digital technology in various spheres of life increasingly determine not only the development vectors of companies and enterprises, but even the everyday lives of a large part of the population. Intelligent technology with automated systems for remote control and certain tasks can be found in homes and flats more and more often. The functionality of the system is quite extensive: it controls the heating, ventilation, lights, alarm function, temperature and humidity control, and much more, all through a mobile phone or voice assistant.
Especially for those who have not yet mastered the smart home system, but would very much like to, as well as for teaching students at the Institute of Digital Technology of Mari State University, a laboratory of energy saving and smart technology has opened, which presents modern equipment allowing to organize an automated control system of home devices in an ordinary residential house.
One of the important directions of development of science is alternative energy. Within the framework of functioning of this laboratory the project of solar power station will be of special priority not only for the university, but also for the entire Republic of Mari El. The laboratory is equipped with a power plant, European solar panels with a total capacity of 5.8 kilowatts are installed on the roof of building "E", they are supplemented with special sensors for scientific research (sensors of insolation, solar panels temperature, ambient temperature). The data are fed into an application to track information - all of which enables students to conduct high-quality laboratory studies and research on the subject. In just one month of using the batteries, they managed not only to save significantly on electricity, but also to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 297 kilograms, which is especially relevant to the "green agenda" that is now popular all over the world.
